EPIC is the world leading industry association that promotes the sustainable development of organizations working in the field of photonics in Europe. EPIC fosters a vibrant photonics ecosystem by maintaining a strong network and acting as a catalyst and facilitator for technological and commercial advancement. EPIC publishes market and technology reports, organizes technical workshops and B2B roundtables, supports EU funding proposals, advocacy and lobbying, education and training activities, standards and roadmaps, pavilions at exhibitions.

CSEM is a private, non-profit Swiss research and technology organization focused on generating value for a sustainable world.

The German Branch of the European Optical Society has committed itself as a registered association for the non-profit promotion of applied optics. Their goal is the further development of applied optics. Materion Balzers Optics is a member of the association.

The European Society for Thin Films (EFDS) is a non-profit organisation active in the industrial field of thin-film technologies.

Materion Balzers Optics is a member of the growing European optics and photonics community called EOS.

The Research and Innovation Center RhySearch was founded in 2013 to network and support the high-tech industry in the region. One focus is on the field of optical layers. A collaboration exists in the field of characterization of layer systems for laser applications.
