Kovar Soldering / Packaging

For high hermeticity requirements, a glass-to-metal sealing option has recently been added to the Coating Plus/packaging product portfolio. Based on the Gelot^™ Solderable Coating, glass lids soldered into metal frames can now be provided. The standard product includes sapphire lids with customized optical coatings that are hermetically bonded to Au/Ni-plated Kovar frames by means of AuSn 80/20 solder preforms. Alternative solder alloys (preforms and paste) as well as different glass types and metal frames are available on request.
